Based in Frederick, Maryland, I’m Yawar Iqbal, founder of Iqbal Business Law and a former U.S. Navy JAG. With significant legal experience spanning military service and private practice, I advise businesses, investors, families, and individuals facing complex business, tax, and IRS matters. My focus is straightforward: delivering clear, strategic solutions to complex business and tax problems.
How I Got Here
My journey began at age seven, helping my parents run their small retail store in Northern Virginia. That early exposure to inventory management, lease terms, and tax issues sparked my lifelong interest in how business law empowers families and entrepreneurs.
After earning my J.D. from Washington College of Law, I served six years as a Judge Advocate General (JAG) in the U.S. Navy. I advised operational commanders, led over 400 investigations, and represented the government in dozens of enforcement actions. One highlight of my military service involved advising a 1,200-person hospital ship during pandemic-era humanitarian operations, where regulatory compliance and fiscal law converged under high stakes.
These experiences taught me to view law not just as rules, but as strategic tools that can protect investments, enable growth, and make real-world impact.
